Fantasia Film Festival: Most Beautiful Island

Most Beautiful Island is a psychological thriller exploring what happens when undocumented immigrants wanting a better life.

Written and directed by Ana Asensio, the psychological thriller stars Asensio, Natasha Romanova, David Little, Nicholas Tucci, Larry Fessenden, and Caprice Benedetti.

What does a struggling immigrant do when they are also undocumented?  This is what writer/director/actress Asensio explores and announces to the world that she’s a triple-threat in front of and behind the camera.  The film is basically a day in the life of Luciana (Asensio).  She’s living in New York City and just wants to have a better life for herself.  Tough enough in NYC but one can only suspect it’s even tougher in an era of cracking down on illegal immigration.

As Luciana struggles, she also wants to escape her previous life.  Easier said than done.  She soon fines herself as a main participant in a game along with Olga (Romanova).  With their lives at risk and their minds twisted around, the elite watch on for pure entertainment.

After making its world premiere at the South by 2017 Southwest Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature, Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Films will distribute Most Beautiful Island this November.
