72nd Emmy Awards – Live Updates

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 72nd Emmy Awards are taking place during the Covid-19 pandemic with multiple cameras cutting to the winners.

Solzy at the Movies will be presenting live updates of the 72nd Emmy Awards this evening.

Right off the bat, I love the fake laughter mixed in with footage from earlier years.  Kimmel does ask the important question of why are we doing this during a pandemic.  He also reminds us of what Americans have had to put up with over the last year.

Quibi: “dumbest thing to ever cost a billion dollars.”

In order to meet broadcast standards, Schitt’s Creek is required to air on screen whenever the title is said.

And there we go, Kimmel realizes the audience is footage from an earlier year.  Jason Bateman is actually in the audience!  The two get into it before Kimmel gives himself a standing ovation.

Kimmel walks us through the Nerve Center where we see all of the nominees for the 72nd Emmy Awards.

Maybe don’t light the envelopes on fire after using Lysol when there are wildfires going on!  The bit with Jennifer Aniston feels a bit too forced.
