Netflix announced today that they have renewed Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for a fourth season.
Originally set to air for at least one season on NBC in 2015, the series was soon moved over to Netflix with an initial two-season order, where it has recieved critical acclaim over the first three seasons. To date, the series has earned eleven Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including two nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Ellie Kemper in the lead role. Held captive with three other women for 15 years by Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) in Indiana, Kimmy makes her way to New York City in the first season only to discover a whole new way of life. She moves into an apartment with actor Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), is friends with her landlord Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane), and nannies for Jacqueline Voorhees (Jane Krakowski).
Starring Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is executive produced by Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond and David Miner. The series is produced by Universal Television, Little Stranger Inc., 3 Arts Entertainment and Bevel Gears for Netflix.
The third season was released on May 19, 2017 and is currently available for viewers to stream on Netflix.
