Sasquatch has seen quite the interesting year dating back to the tail end of 2017. This came in the form of various feature films. By the end of 2018, the year of Sasquatch would not be limited to just live-action alone. An animated film would join the Sasquatch Cinematic Universe come September 2018.
Migo (Channing Tatum) is a Yeti and a discovery turns his world upside and threatens to change life as he knows it. For generations, the Yeti lived in a snowy village high above the clouds for safety. “Let it Lie,” sung by the Stonekeeper (Common) reveals the backstory as to why later on in the film. But for now, Migo and Meechee (Zendaya) interrogate this human, Percy (James Corden), in order to learn more. When other Yeti learn of Percy’s arrival, life may never be the same. If there is such thing as a “Smallfoot,” what else could possibly exist?
Can human and Yeti co-exist? This is certainly the biggest question that Karey Kirkpatrick and Clare Sera explore in their screenplay. The film speaks to many themes–friendship and courage among them. In a musical way, of course! Everything we know about Sasquatch will never be the same.
The music behind the film is quite catchy with the tunes being sung by the likes of Zendaya and Common. If there’s some unfortunate news to tell you, “And Zendaya is Meechee” is not included among the bonus features. But we get the James Corden-sung Queen parody, “Percy’s Pressure.”
