Jeff Bridges was previously announced as the recipient of the 2019 Cecil B. deMille Award.  The first Carol Burnett Award for Outstanding Achievement in Television was presented to 5-time Golden Globe winner (17 nominations) Carol Burnett.

During her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, If Beale Street Could Talk‘s Regina King makes a vow to make sure that everything she produces will hire 50% women and challenges anyone out there in a position of power in Hollywood but also in all industries to challenge themselves in solidarity.  King said this while describing the importance of the microphone on the red carpet and refers to this campaign as Times Up Times Two.

This will be one of the very few wins for Green Book in Best Screenplay category.  It isn’t just that it’s inconceivable that this could be considered the best screenplay but that there are so many better screenplays out there.  One of the most important articles on how this film did a disservice to Dr. Don Shirley can be found at Shadow and Act.

Could a Mitch Mcconnell biopic be next for Christian Bale?  This is a pretty entertaining speech for the Vice actor in his win following his portrayal of Vice President Dick Cheney!

Harrison Ford presented best director after Jeff Bridges delivered his speech. “Nobody told me I had to follow Jeff Bridges. Who wants to do that?”

Standing ovation when Emily Blunt and Dick Van Dyke walked out to present Mary Poppins Returns. Van Dyke quipped that he saw Carol Burnett in the audience and was like, “I know her!”

Green Book‘s win for Best Comedy or Musical…I’m not going to go there.  I’m just not.  At least not right now.

The 76th Annual Golden Globes were awarded on Sunday, January 6, 2019 on NBC.
