Beetlejuice Arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray

Whether or not you say his name three times, Tim Burton’s ghost movie Beetlejuice makes an arrival onto 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Makeup.  Meanwhile, the American Film Institute would honor the film with a slot on their top 100 comedies in 2000.

Beetlejuice includes the same bonus content as previous Blu-ray releases.  This is another lost opportunity when it comes to adding new bonus content.  There certainly should have been an opportunity to have a reunion panel to discuss the film’s legacy.  Even a director’s commentary would have made for a solid addition.  Instead, it’s the same three television series episodes and a trailer.

The film gets an upgrade just two years after celebrating the 30th anniversary.  Moreover, one thing to appreciate about the upgrade is that the 4K disc will feature a Dolby Atmos soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment.

Synopsis

What’s a couple of stay-at-home ghosts to do when their beloved home is taken over by trendy yuppies? They call on Beetlejuice, the afterlife’s freelance bio-exorcist to scare off the family – and everyone gets more than she, he or it bargains for! Tim Burton guides this PG-rated comedy monsterpiece whose stars include Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, and Winona Ryder.  And Michael Keaton is Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most who flings one-liners, spins into grotesque forms, gobbles insects, and who just can’t leave the ladies (living or dead) alone.  Ghoul love it!
