73rd Emmy Awards Winners – Live Updates!

The 73rd Emmy Awards are being presented tonight on CBS and Solzy at the Movies will be providing updates throughout the show.

Cedric the Entertainer is hosting tonight’s ceremony, which is being held outside because of the Delta variant concerns. People will win or lose but at the end of the day, television audiences win because of the wealth of content available to watch. But if you’re favorites don’t win at the Emmy Awards, it’s because it was Agatha All Along…

Seth Rogen touched on it during his opening but this year’s show looks like it’s taking place inside instead of outdoors. What happened to doing something open air given the Delta concerns? This looks furthest from and because it’s a television production, nobody is masking up either.

Cedric makes a dig at the Mike Richards Jeopardy scandal and Nicki Minaj’s cousin’s friend.

I join WandaVision fans in echoing disappointment in Kathryn Hahn being robbed of a trophy tonight.

This Schitt’s Creek appearance with a broken teleprompter has to be a bit. They’re presenting Outstanding Writing and Directing for a Comedy Series. While Hacks won for writing and directing, I thought for sure that Ted Lasso would continue it’s strong run this evening. Folks, we’ve got ourselves a comedy competition at the Emmy Awards tonight.

There’s a bit with a safe space. Alyson Hannigan is sad about not being nominated. Jason Alexander tells her she should be thankful because he lost all seven times. Scott Bakula is also upset and points out how many years he’s been in TV. Fred Savage is directing the sketch. Zooey Deschanel points out that her generation isn’t into awards before later asking where her Emmy is. Dr. Phil makes a late appearance to offer his advice, which includes getting a role on Ted Lasso.

Debbie Allen gets a standing ovation upon being presented with a Governor’s Award.

You remember how the Television Academy promised that this year’s Emmy Awards stage would be ADA-compliant? Well, it turns out they lied like the wind! The following comes from Crip Camp co-director Jim LeBrecht:

And now for a lighter note, Stephen Colbert thanks Ted Lasso for not being nominated in the same category. More importantly, Colbert thanks everyone for getting the work done during a pandemic when everyone was working over Zoom.
