Good Luck to You, Leo Grande: Interviews With Crew

In a pair of interviews, Solzy at the Movies spoke with director Sophie Hyde and screenwriter Katy Brand about Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.

The film, which stars Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival in January. The film was acquired by Searchlight Pictures and will be launching June 17 on Hulu.

Thompson stars as retired teacher Nancy Stokes opposite newcomer Daryl McCormack’s titular sex worker Leo Grande. Stokes displays both candor and apprehension in her post-marital sexual awakening. Meanwhile, Grande has to rely on his skill and charm in an attempt to ease Nancy’s apprehension. This is one of those films where you don’t think either of them will find a connection. In the end, you have to watch how things play out.

While it was tempting, I did not ask the filmmakers if there was an opportunity to pull an Airplane! and have someone barge into say: “Good luck to you, Leo Grande. We’re all counting on you.”

Hulu will release Good Luck to You, Leo Grande on June 17, 2022.
