Indiana Jones De-Ages Harrison Ford in New Trailer

The first teaser trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (IJ5) features footage of a de-aged Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford).

The Walt Disney Company released the teaser trailer and poster today for Lucasfilm’s INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY, the highly anticipated fifth installment of the iconic Indiana Jones franchise, starring Harrison Ford as the legendary hero archaeologist, and directed by James Mangold. The film will open in theaters on June 30, 2023.

If you told me that this shot of Harrison Ford in the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer was new footage shot for the film and not found footage from Raiders, I would have a hard time believing you. I’m impressed by the CGI de-aging in the trailer and cannot wait for June. In watching the teaser, it is impressive to see how they pull this off. Some films and series are able to pull it off; others, not so much.

In addition to Harrison Ford returning as the iconic screen hero, the film also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen. Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, is once again composing the score.

The John Williams score for the film is said to be the final motion picture score. It is bittersweet to see the Oscar-winning maestro finish his career with his final Steven Spielberg score and what will probably be the last Indy movie.

Lucasfilm will release Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on June 30, 2023.
