Marvel Studios premiered the teaser trailer for The Marvels on Good Morning America ahead of the sequel’s November 10 release.
Upon first glance, The Marvels looks to be going for more comedy in the teaser. After all, you have a trio of super-powered individuals that are frequently switching places with each other. Along with 2019’s Captain Marvel, it will also help to watch both WandaVision and Ms. Marvel going into the film. In any event, the film is a direct sequel to both Disney+ series and the film. Whether it’s a direct sequel to Secret Invasion is something that remains to be determined. Regardless, I look forward to Nia DaCosta’s direction on the film especially after watching Little Woods during Tribeca 2018.
In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.
The film stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon. Nia DaCosta directs, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.
