Paramount is marking the 70th anniversary of Irving Berlin’s White Xmas by releasing the classic on 4K Ultra HD for the first time.
When it was first released in 1954, it was the first film that Paramount ever released in the VistaVision format. VistaVision, in utilizing a horizonal film format, would later pave the way for the likes of IMAX and OMNIMAX.
In addition to the home entertainment release, the film will also return to theatres for a special two-day celebration on December 15 & 16, as part of Fathom’s Big Screen Classics. Irving Berlin’s family will attend the evening showing of the film on December 15 at the AMC Empire in New York and will take part in a post-screening Q&A, led by Ted Chapin, which will explore the incredible life and career of one of America’s most prolific songwriters.
