BAFTA announced the nominations for the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, which will be taking place this year on February 16, 2025.

Actors Mia McKenna-Bruce and Will Sharpe announced the nominations via a live broadcast from BAFTA 195 Piccadilly in London earlier today.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will once again be held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in central London, and broadcast on Sunday 16 February 2025 on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, stream on BritBox International in North America, and be available on BritBox on demand in the Nordics and Australia.

Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said: “The 42 films nominated today span a fantastically broad spectrum of genres with enormous breadth in creative expression; from the most intimate character pieces to epic societal commentaries via genre-bending dramas, musicals and comedies. The film industry has delivered in spades once again. We look forward to acknowledging this amazing body of work at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards. With just over a month to go, we encourage film fans everywhere to watch as many films as possible – there really is something for everyone. Anna Higgs, Chair of BAFTA Film Committee, added: “Congratulations to all the 42 films nominated today. The selection of films is an incredible showcase of the very best in creative talent working in filmmaking today in Britain and globally. I’m delighted that 14 of the 24 nominees in the performance categories are receiving their first BAFTA film nomination and that 12 of the nominated films are directed by women. Our BAFTA voting members now have the unenviable task of selecting the winners which will be celebrated at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards on 16 February.”

The nominees for the EE Rising Star Award were announced on 7 January as Marisa Abela, Jharrel Jerome, David Jonsson, Mikey Madison, and Nabhaan Rizwan. It is the only award voted for by the British public and it is presented annually to a performer who has demonstrated exceptional talent early in their careers. Voting is now open at ee.co.uk/bafta.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards voting takes place over three rounds: Longlisting, Nominations and Winners, by BAFTA’s global voting membership, comprising over 8,100 creatives and film industry practitioners. The final round of voting will open on January 22.
