The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) presented the winners of the 39th Annual ASC Awards in a Sunday night ceremony. Ed Helms is hosting the ceremony for the second year in a row.
The 2025 Outstanding Achievement Award nominees honor cinematographers in feature film, documentary, television and music video categories. Winners are being announced during a ceremony taking place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The event will be live streamed worldwide at theasc.com.
Previously announced honorees include:
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Andrzej Bartkowiak, ASC
- Career Achievement in Television Award: Michael Goi, ASC, ISC
- Board of Governors Award: Kathleen Kennedy
- Presidents Award: John Simmons, ASC
- Lifetime Documentary Award: Joan Churchill, ASC
- Curtis Clark ASC Technology Award: Pete Romano, ASC
The Bud Stone Award was a complete surprise to the honoree, Suzanne Lezzotte.
Helms brings up the Justin Baldoni/Blake Lively feud and proceeds to joke about Sony Venice/Alexa 35 debate. He proceeds to make a joke about Will Smith while joking about lenses. Talking about January, Jerry Bruckheimer acquired the rights to January. Yes, he went there: The Hangover Part IV. He couldn’t resist a DOGE joke. Talking about LA having a cleanup ahead: “I’m not just talking about Kanye’s tweets.”
Tonight’s gala is also being used as a fundraiser for the LA wildfire relief.
Upon accepting her award, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy applauds ASC welcoming a number of new female cinematographers into their ranks an looks forward to working with them someday.
The last award of the night is being presented by father-and-daughter, Caleb Deschanel and Emily Deschanel. Interestingly enough, Zooey Deschanel presented earlier tonight at the SAG Awards.
