Succession: The Complete Series Arrives On Blu-ray

Following its run on HBO and last year’s DVD release, Succession: The Complete Series is now available for fans to bring home on Blu-ray.

My view on the series has evolved in the years since it first premiered in 2018. I did a rewatch in 2021 and let’s just say that my thoughts have really changed. At the time, I felt it was the dramatic version of Arrested Development. I no longer feel this way. It’s such a smart satire and even if both series have dysfunctional families to some extent, there’s no reason why they cannot co-exist and not be compared to one another. At some point, I’ll rewrite the review but I don’t know when that date will be.

All episodes from HBO’s award-winning original series are brought together for the second time in one set with the release of Succession: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. Get ready to binge on all 39 episodes from the series’ four critically acclaimed seasons, along with all the previously released special features. The brilliant high-stakes drama following the Roy Family and their quest for power will be available to own on Blu-ray on August 13, 2024. It’s honestly surprising that the Blu-ray release did not come last September with the DVD release.

Succession stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, and Fisher Stevens.

The series was created by Jesse Armstrong; executive produced by Jesse Armstrong, Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, Lucy Prebble, Will Tracy, and Will Ferrell. Jesse Armstrong serves as showrunner.

The complete series of Succession earned 75 Emmy nominations and 19 wins, including Outstanding Drama Series, for the second, third, and fourth seasons. Season three, which premiered October 2021, earned the SAG Award for drama ensemble, and swept at WGA, DGA, and PGA. The fourth season, which premiered in 2023 picked up 27 nominations, including a record-breaking three nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series:

  • Outstanding Drama Series
  • 3 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong)
  • Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Sarah Snook)
  • 3 for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Mark Mylod, Andrij Parekh, Lorene Scafaria)
  • Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Jesse Armstrong)
  • 4 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, Alexander Skarsgård)
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (J. Smith-Cameron)
  • 2 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series (James Cromwell, Arian Moayed)
  • 3 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Hiam Abbass, Cherry Jones, Harriet Walter).

The Primetime Emmy Awards and Creative Arts Emmy Awards were delayed until this past January but the series took home six wins, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Kieran Culkin), Outstanding Lead Actress (Sarah Snook), Outstanding Directing (Mark Mylod), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Matthew Macfadyen), Outstanding Writing (Jesse Armstrong)

Barring any discounts, it’ll cost $85.40 to bring home Succession: The Complete Series on Blu-ray.
